When you talk about Hollywood celebrities and the home of the internationally famed basketball Lakers & Clippers team, there is no doubt that Los Angeles has a plethora of world renowned accomplishments and attractions. A majority of people that flock to Los Angeles in search for their dreams are actors, models, and singers a like.
Mental Health Above All Else
If you’re a newbie to “The Industry” the biggest piece of advise that you’ll most likely get is to be mindful of your mental health. Taking rejection is no easy feat, and in this industry you will realize “No’s” are very common for those who are starting out. Thus, it is important to stay grounded and not let the rejection affect your mental. Yes, it’s easier said than done. However, it is imperative that as a new actor, model, or singer, you keep this at the top of your head. Having a mantra will most definitely help with this. Some people turn to yoga and meditation to help ease their anxiety.
Physical Health Comes Next
Outdoor activities are very common in sunny Los Angeles. From the plethora of hikes all around Los Angeles to the beautiful beaches there is a lot to chose from. Runyon Canyon is a very popular hiking destination. However, it is suggested to also explore the Griffith Observatory or even the more secluded Malibu Mountains to avoid all of the congestion. Another fun activity to take on is exercising on the board walk. Sarah Snyder, an actress who has done a few commercials, suggests to new comers going to the board walk and bring your choice of exercise device. Her preferred choice is her new outdoor elliptical by StreetStrider. This fun device is easy on the joints and is a great way to get outdoors to soak up the sun while getting a full body exercise. You’ll notice on the board walk of Santa Monica, many people zoom by with their bikes, roller skates and most famously in skateboards in the Venice skateboard park.
Support Groups: For Physical & Mental Health
There are many groups in Los Angeles that have formed over the years to help newcomers and veterans in the industry. These support groups are a great way to meet people who are struggling with the same issues you are. Some incorporate outdoor exercises and activities, while others focus more on the mental health aspect. Pick a few and check various groups out. It’s always best to check out multiple groups until you find the one where you feel most at home. These support groups are great assets and will help you stay healthy, not only physically but mentally as well.
